MORNA W. OWENS

March 1, 1949 – February 22, 2015

 

Morna Williams Owens, 65, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2015 at Sentara Heart Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Morna was born in Washington State on March 1, 1949. She was a dedicated paralegal with the law firm Huff, Poole and Mahoney for over 20 years and a founding member of Unity Renaissance Church of Chesapeake, VA.

After retirement, she expanded on her artistic talents, becoming an accomplished painter, creative writer and song writer.  She was a gifted piano player who also wrote novels, short stories and poems.  Most of all, she loved to share her art with her friends and family.

Morna is predeceased by her parents William and Caroline Virginia Clayton, her husband Alvah “Peppy” Owens, and her son, James Carlo, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Clayton and wife Helen; her grandchildren, Robert Hamilton, Sr. and wife Felicia, James Carlo, Jr., Richard Carlo and wife Tori, and Annabelle Clayton; and her great-grandchildren, Robert Hamilton, Jr., Alexis Hamilton, and Wyatt Carlo.

A memorial service will be held at Unity Renaissance Church in Chesapeake, VA at 6 pm Friday, February 27, 2015.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm, following the service. Inurnment will take place on the family plot in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, NC at Noon on Saturday.
