Kenneth Ray Willoughby, 77, of 1814 North Boyd Road in Pinetown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Willoughby was born on July 12, 1937 to the late Polly Roberson and Smith Willoughby. He was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church and served our country as a member of the National Guard.
Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM with the Pastor Bobby Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Pall Bearers will be David Landing, Kenny Dean Willoughby, Bruce Copeland, Gary Brinn, David Dixon and Ray Collier.
Mr. Willoughby worked with his father in law, Ottis Winstead mowing lawns before he began working at Mallisons in Washington. He later worked for PCS and after twenty plus years of service he retired in 1998. Kenneth was known for his love of talking and socializing with people and many may remember him from Walmart as he greeted people with his smile and kind words. His family was close to his heart and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Mr. Willoughby is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilda Mae Winstead; his two daughters: Teresa Snow and husband Charlie of Manteo, NC and Angela Hewitt and husband Tommy of Pinetown, NC; three sons: Kenneth Lee Willoughby and his companion Lynnette Everett, David Willoughby and wife Carol and Whitford “Buddy” Willoughby all of Washington, NC; two half sisters: Addie Burgess of Hampton, VA and Marie Sweat of Newport News, VA; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
