Mr. Joseph Donald “Duck” Arnold, age 78, a resident of 2125 Hwy 17 North, Washington, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, conducted by Phillip Paul. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Rusty Roberson, Randy Dixon, Jay Paul, Greg Arnold, Sandy Arnold and Chris Houston.
Mr. Arnold was born in Pitt County on November 17, 1936. He was the son of the late Jodie Golden Arnold and Letha Mae Elks Arnold. Mr. Arnold graduated from Washington High School in 1959. He served in the National Guard. After fulfilling his National Guard obligations, Mr. Arnold returned to Beaufort County to farm with his family until his passing. He supported Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Arnold was a member of the Old Ford Volunteer Fire Department and the Beaufort County Farm Bureau where he had served as a board member for each organization.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Mills Arnold of the home; two daughters, Christine Arnold of Washington, Rebecca Arnold of Chocowinity; son, Andrew Arnold and wife, Melinda of Washington; two grandchildren, Jody Dale Arnold and Amy Elizabeth Arnold both of Washington; three brothers, K. V. “Vett” Arnold and wife, Grace of Washington, James Arnold of Grimesland, Billy Joe Arnold and wife, Barbara of Washington; sister, Dorothy A. Paul of Pinetown; sister in law, Magdalene Arnold of Washington and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Paul Arnold; brother in law, Marlow Paul; sister in law, Betty Lou Arnold; niece, Vicky Arnold and great nephew, Colin Arnold.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
