Clarence Bennett Barber

June 1, 1944 – April 26, 2015

 

Clarence Bennett Barber, 70, of N. McCaskey Road, died Sunday April 26, 2015.  He was born in Martin County June 1, 1944 to the late Cushion H. and Ruth Manning Lilley Barber and was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Cherry Barber, a son, Bradley Allen Hicks and a daughter Kimberly B. Cromwell.  He retired from Weyerhaeuser after 33 years of service.  C. B. was a US Navy veteran and member of the First Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church by Rev. Karen Kelly. Burial with military honors will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife; Dianne Berglund Barber of Williamston; daughter, Pamela Hicks of Williamston; sons Jerry Wayne Hicks of Washington, Warren Thomas Hicks of LaGrange; brother Joe Barber of North Aurora, IL; sisters Patricia Jimison of North Charleston, SC, Sandra Shuler and Sharon Scott both of Williamston; nine grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday April 27, 2015 from 7-8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home.  Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834 or to American Kidney Foundation, Suite 1010, Rockville MD 20852.
