March 17, 1932 – May 7, 2015
Mr. William Franklin “Bill” Roach, age 83, a resident of 222 Swan Point Dr., Washington, formerly of 552 Crabtree Rd., Belhaven, died Thursday May 7, 2015 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Center in Bolivia, NC.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday May 10, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, and will be officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Brian Sykes, Kevin Roach, Brad Roach, Travis Mercer, Paul Thompson, and Rodney Hawkins will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30pm until 8:30pm Saturday May 9, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of Keith and Amy Roach, 222 Swan Point Dr., Washington.
Mr. Roach was born on March 17, 1932 to the late Stanford T. and Esther Mae Hudley Roach. He was married to Doris M. Jackson on October 25, 1950 who preceded him in death. He married Cleata L. Armstrong on June 25, 1977 who also preceded him in death. He was a former member of Old Ford Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. After moving to Belhaven he was an active member of the Mount Olive Church of Christ where he also served as an Elder.
Survivors include his son, Keith Roach and wife Amy of Washington; a daughter, Beth Sykes of Leland; four grandchildren, Kevin Roach, Brad Roach, Brian Sykes and wife Ashley, Amanda Mercer and husband Travis; one great grandchild, Tyson Sykes; a sister, Betty Lou “Tootie” Hawkins of Burlington; a step-son, Doug Armstrong and wife Martha of Belhaven; a step-daughter, Felicia Fennimore and husband Bob of Belhaven; four step-grandchildren, Melvin Armstrong and wife Gretchen, Abigail Marshall and husband Brian, Melissa Fennimore, Robert Fennimore and two step-great grandchildren, Hazel Armstrong, and Vivian Marshall.
Mr. Roach is preceded in death by two brothers, Linwood Roach, Luther “Boyd” Roach; three sisters, Naomi Pike, Vivian Angel and Peggy Overman.
