ALTON RAY CAMPBELL

March 6, 1944 – April 25, 2015

Alton Ray Campbell died in hospice care surrounded by his children and grandchildren on April 25, 2015 in Kansas City, MO. He was born March 6, 1944 to Sadie Ray (Harris) Campbell and Albert Junior Campbell. He had six brothers and sisters: Jackie, Gene, William, Linda Sue, Joyce and Jerry Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jackie and Joyce Campbell. He grew up in Washington, NC and graduated from Washington High School in 1962. He then served in the United States Air Force where he was honorably discharged as an E4 in 1966. He was a father to five children: Anthony Campbell (deceased as an infant), Kenneth Campbell, Cassandra (Campbell) Decker, Amorette (Campbell) Bryant, Scott Campbell, and a grandfather to Blake Patton, Joy Decker, Anthony Bryant, Nickolas Bryant, Alana Calvillo, and Andrew Calvillo.

A military service will take place at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, 161 Avon Ave., Washington, NC on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 1 pm. All are welcome. He was cremated and will have his ashes scattered at the top of a mountain in Colorado at a later date, per his wishes. Alton Campbell will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
