From the Washington Harbor District Alliance
Washington Harbor District Alliance announces plans to bring back the popular Pickin’ on the Pamlico.
Residents are invited for a memorable evening of all-you-can-eat eastern Carolina crabs and shrimp, great music, a stunning sunset, all enjoyed along the Pamlico River in downtown Washington.
The ever-popular crab pickin’ will be held on the Washington waterfront in Festival Park on Aug. 15. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Ginger Thompson Band. Thompson and her musicians were brought back this year by popular demand. They greatly amuse the audience with their energetic show featuring soul, Motown, R & B, pop, beach & rock-n-roll standards.
A seafood feast of Pamlico River blue crabs and fresh North Carolina shrimp will be served. Fried chicken and BBQ will be available for the landlubbers, with a selection of side dishes and desserts. Food will be prepared by Nixon Catering, who specialize in feeding large crowds throughout eastern North Carolina.
Tickets are now available at the Washington Visitor Center (252-948-9415) and Little Shoppes in Washington or online at www.whda.org. Individual tickets are $45. Table reservations for 10 people may also be made for $100, in addition to individual tickets. The gathering will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served beginning at 6 p.m. A cash bar with beer and wine will be available until 10 p.m. Pickin’ on the Pamlico is a fundraising event to support the mission of Washington Harbor District Alliance, Inc. WHDA’s mission is to improve economic conditions and quality of life while serving as a facilitator and catalyst to renew, restore, rebuild and invest in the Harbor District. WHDA is a 501(c)(3) corporation.
