The greatest player since Dominique Wilkins to grace a Beaufort County basketball court has decided to transfer schools for his senior year.
Former Northside player Edrice “Bam” Adebayo announced on Saturday he will play his final high school season at High Point Christian Academy.
Adebayo, a 6-9 forward and No. 8-ranked overall high school recruit for the Class of 2016 by ESPN, finishes his career at Northside with 1894 career points, 1494 rebounds and 327 blocks in three seasons.
Last season, Adebayo led the Panthers to the eastern regional finals, finishing the season as North Carolina’s leader in scoring at 32.2 points and 21 rebounds per game. He joins a Cougars team that finished 19-14 and 5-5 in the NCISAA Piedmont Conference, a team that returns its top scorer this year.
In previous interviews with the Daily News, Adebayo and his advisor Eric Peartree have expressed that developing Adebayo’s game by playing top-level competition is the main priority for his final high school season. High Point Christian Academy shares a conference with two of the top-ranked private high school basketball teams in the state, Greensboro Day and Wesleyan Christian Academy, a rival of HPCA.
