Peggy G. Bunn
Sept. 24, 1941 – Sept. 3, 2015
Mrs. Peggy Joyce Gurganus Bunn, age 73, a resident of 103 Waterside Drive, Bath, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 3, 2015 surrounded by her family at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 6 at Bath Christian Church, conducted by Dennis Davis. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: grandchildren Terence Wallace, Kristopher Wold, Derek Wold and Savannah Bunn, and family friends Bobby
Jarman and Tommy Respass.
Mrs. Bunn was born in Beaufort County on September 24, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Robert Mitchell Gurganus and Mary Elizabeth Tetterton Gurganus. Mrs. Bunn was a member of Bath Christian Church. Mrs. Bunn’s eye for design and creativity provided her the opportunity to work as a graphic designer while living in Virginia during the early 1970s. She graduated magna cum laude in 1983 from East Carolina University where she was awarded membership in the honor societies of Gamma Beta Phi, Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi. She taught with the Beaufort County Schools beginning in 1983. Mrs. Bunn truly loved all her students through the years and continued to teach, even after her retirement in 2014. A Walmart visit couldn’t happen without someone calling out for Mrs. Bunn and her responding with “Hi, honey.”
On December 20, 1959 she married Pfc. Billy Chris Bunn whom she had known and loved since she was 14 years old.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bunn is survived by her daughter: Yvonne Bunn Wold of New Bern and son Billy Chris Bunn Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Bath; a sister: Mary Lynn Edwards; and four grandchildren: Terence Wallace, Kristopher Wold, Derek Wold and Savannah Bunn. She was a loving Mema to all her grandchildren and was looking forward to Kristopher’s wedding to Jess Yarbro in October.
Mrs. Bunn was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Charles “Skipper” Edwards.
A special thank you from Peggy and her family goes to Karen Whitehead, Susi Gilmore and Continuum Health Care for their extraordinary care.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, September 6 in the fellowship hall at Bath Christian Church and other times at the home, 103 Waterside Drive, Bath.
