From North Carolina Community Foundation

Several members of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation board of advisors recently traveled to conduct site visits at nonprofit grant recipients, according to Shanon Carter, board president.

The first site visit was in Aurora to visit the Teens Leading Change Community Garden by Be Global, where students made presentations to the board on the project and how they are learning the art of gardening, healthy eating and even business by selling the produce at the local farmers’ market.

The next stop was in Hyde County to visit the Mattamuskeet Senior Center, where board members heard from Shari Harris, with the Albemarle Commission of Aging, on the Meals on Wheels program in Hyde County.

Carter thanked the community for its support of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Beaufort-Hyde’s community fund.”

In addition to Carter, board members include: Charles Edwards Jr. (vice-president/treasurer), Beth Wilder (secretary), Read Allen, Daniel Bergevin, Nicole Howard, Edmund Spencer Mann Jr., Stuart O’Neal and Bill Rich.

The Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF). Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Community Grant-making Fund, which is administered by the NCCF. Contributions should be made payable to the Beaufort-Hyde Community Fund and mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, Landmark Center, 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.
