George E. Ward

George E. Ward, age 75, a resident of Riverview Drive in the Pamlico Plantation Community of Washington, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at his home. Mr. Ward was born in Washington, D.C. on August 13, 1940 to the late William and Geneva Carrie Ward.

He attended schools in Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia. He was a cartographer at Defense Mapping Agency. His most recent employment was as a Visual Information Specialist with the U.S. Geological Survey from which he retired in 1995. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington. He had a love for fishing, golf, traveling, family and Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Carol N. Ward; his children Gary Ward (Trish) of Memphis, TN and Gail Ward (Ed) of Midlothian, VA; his brother, William “Bill” (Elba) Ward of Front Royal, VA; four nieces, Constance, Rebecca, Terry and Donna; three nephews, Chuck, Phillip and Donald; and two grandchildren, Abby and Thomas of Midlothian, VA.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Lee Kenny officiating. The family will receive friends for a reception immediately following the service at The Meeting Place in Washington.
