Johnny “Doc” Rosario

Johnny “Doc” Rosario, age 68, a resident of Chandler Road in Vanceboro died Friday, November 6, 2015. Mr. Rosario was born in New York City, NY on  January 17, 1947, to the late Ramon and Ana Rodriguez Rosario.  He was married on horseback to the former Darlyne Mayo on August 18, 1978 who survives.  Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Kira Rosario of Washington, NC, Jon Paul Rosario of Raleigh, NC and Luke Rosario of Chocowinity, NC; his brothers, Angel L. Rosario of Penn Valley, CA, Herman Rosario of New York City, NY and Raymond Rosario of New York City, NY and his sister Sonia Santana of Elizabeth, NJ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rosario.

He was a graduate of Charles Evan Hughes High School and Staten Island Community College. Prior to his retirement, he was in sales and marketing in the insurance and cellular phone industries.  He was a member of Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church in Blounts Creek, NC and was an Assistant Scout Master with Troop 99 in Washington, NC from 2009 through 2012.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday November 8, 2015 at

Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church in Blounts Creek, NC with Pastor Michael Hill officiating.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 and other times at the home.  A private burial will be held at a later date and pallbearers will be Earl Rascoe, Dal Newbold, Jacob Edwards, Chris Wilcox, Mike Clark and Jason Everett.  Honorary pallbearers will be Boy Scout Troop 99.  Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
