Old Ford Ruritan Club: Nov. 15, 2015

Vice President Churchill Hodges called the Nov. 5 meeting to order, and welcomed members and guest. Churchill Hodges led the group in the singing of America, and Richard Gerard gave the prayer for the meal. Churchill Hodges introduced Eric Godwin, the Future Farmers of America advisor at Washington High School, and a WHS student, Alexis Matkins. Eric presented a program on the agriculture program at WHS.

Churchill Hodges presented the treasurer for the month of November. The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. Tony Hoell made a motion to accept the minutes as read. A second to the motion was made by Bobby Hodges. It was reported that the fall barbecue was a success. On Dec. 5, the Old Ford Ruritan will ring the bells for the Salvation Army. On Dec. 12, Sheetz will host a Christmas party for children at the Old Ford Ruritan building. Joe Ayers reported on the highway clean up. The new officers and board of directors was presented by the nominating committee. Bobby Hodges presented a “Stocking for Soldiers” project. It was reported that the Goldsboro-Greenville District Convention of the Ruritan would be held on Nov. 7 at Winterville Baptist Church. Bobby Hodges made the motion the reimbursement of Debbie Hodges for drinks served at the recent fall barbecue. A second to the motion was made by Richard Gerard. The motion passed as presented. Joe Ayers made a motion to give the Zion Shelter a $100 donation. A second to the motion was made by Herman Grissom. The motion passed as presented. Richard Gerard made a motion to give the WHS FFA a $100 donation. A second to the motion was made by Herman Grissom. The motion passed as presented. With no other business, the meeting was closed with the pledge to the American flag.
