Mr. Daniel Gray Adams, Sr., age 72, a resident of Washington, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Adams Family Cemetery, 462 Ward Road, Washington, and will be officiated by Doug Batchelor and Linwood Adams. His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Adams was born in Beaufort County on April 20, 1943 to the late Daniel James Adams and Mary L. Jackson. On January 7, 1962 he married Brenda Carole Jefferson. Mr. Adams was retired from the Town of Belhaven after 34 years. He was also a retired member of the Belhaven Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Adams was the owner and proprietor of the Lazy A Ranch. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ in Pantego. Mr. Adams was also a member of the Bojangles Sunday Night Dinner Club.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda J. Adams, five children, Daniel “Bat” Gray Adams, Jr. and wife Debra, of Washington, Carole Adams Mongelli and husband Jeffrey of Virginia Beach, VA, Lou Adams Stout and husband Richard, Ryan Adams and wife Megan, Bryan Adams and wife Lisa, all of Washington, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many adopted children, two sisters, Retha Price and husband Don of Jacksonville, Lou Skinner of Belhaven, a brother-in-law Elwood Jefferson of Olive Branch, MS, and his beloved pets, including Lulu and Jack.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams is preceded in death by a brother, James R. Adams.

The family will receive friends from 6:30pm until 8:30pm Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
