Early birds get books

BCCC Student Services, the BCCC Foundation and the Student Government Association are teaming up to encourage students to register for classes early by raffling off money for books.

The first winner, Sheryll Dodge, an agribusiness student from Swan Quarter, received $250 toward the cost of her books. Additional prizes of $200 and $150 will be raffled off to students who have registered for classes by Nov. 25 and Dec. 4, respectively.

Students should contact their advisors to register for classes as soon as possible in order to be eligible for these drawings. Winners are selected at random from those who have completed the registration process.

Smith thanked the group for the donation and the campus-wide effort to raise awareness.

“The funds that you raise stay in your local community and allow breast cancer patients to have access to the resources that they need,” she said.

SSSL also sponsored breast cancer screenings for 28 participants in partnership with Vidant Beaufort on Oct. 12.
