Mrs. Sidney Earle Ange Whitley, age 88, a former resident of Belhaven, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Autumnfield of Belhaven.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery, conducted by Travis Boyd.

The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Kendal Sadler, Chris Rouse, Jonathan Rouse, Alex Rowe and Art Carawan.

Mrs. Whitley was born in Beaufort County on October 12, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Augustus Maryland Ange and Ersula Virginia Waters Ange. Mrs. Whitley was a graduate of Pantego High School. She worked for many years as a butcher/clerk at Acre Station Meat Farm.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Belhaven.

On July 25, 1948, she married Robert Bright Whitley, who preceded her in death, January 5, 1987.

Mrs. Whitley is survived by three sons, Robert Mitchell Whitley and wife, Maggie of Warner Robins, Ga., Melvin Earl Whitley and wife, Debra of Grimesland, Michael Lynn Whitley and wife, JoAnne of Belhaven; sister, Arnie Levy of Slidell, LA; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by a brother, Dempsey Ange and three sisters, Nellie Varron, Alma Carawan and Ernestine Fentress.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
