From Beaufort County Community College

The Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College has announced its schedule of personal enrichment classes for spring 2016. Watch this space for additional classes in the coming weeks. All classes will be held on the BCCC campus. Gift certificates are available and make perfect stocking stuffers.

 

The schedule is as follows:

 

Yoga, 5:30-6:45 p.m., Thursdays, Jan. 14 to March 24, in room 102 of Building 4. Kripalu Yoga-certified instructor Sharon Owens will lead this class, practicing, movement, breathing and meditation. The stretching is gentle and the benefits are immeasurable. Students will need their own mat; any additional equipment will be supplied. Registration fee of $66.25 includes accident insurance fee.

 

Golf Fundamentals, 6-8 p.m., Thursdays, April 5-26, in room 102 of Building 4. No golf clubs? No problem. BCCC has the clubs and the space to teach students the basics of this popular game. Two of the four sessions will be held at the Terrapin Track Golf Course. Registration fee of $46.25 includes accident insurance fee.

 

Croquet for Fun, 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesdays, April 5 to May 10 OR 10-11:30 a.m., Wednesdays, April 6 to May 11, in room 825 of Building 8. Backyard croquet is more fun with improved skills and understanding of the game. Tony Price will explain the course, the rules, proper swing, ball control, strategy, tactics and etiquette. Registration fee of $41.25 includes accident insurance fee.

 

Advanced Care Planning, 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, April 5-12, in room 821 of Building 8. Students will learn how to make their own decisions about their future health care, including end-of-life care. Vidant Health’s Mary Lou Infinito will provide information and guidance, and facilitate document completion, including notary and witness services. Registration fee is $10.

 

Defensive Driving DDC-4, multiple Monday evening and Saturday classes available, in room 828 of Building 8. This class is designed to teach drivers to recognize hazards, understand defenses and act correctly and quickly to avoid problems on the highway. This course may satisfy employer requirements for businesses that employ drivers or help get a ticket reduced. Registration fee is $65.

 

First Steps Handguns: Semi-Automatics, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Jan. 16, in room 101 of Building 10B. This class is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling of this type of pistol. The six-hour course includes both classroom and range time. Registration fee of $86.25 includes accident insurance fee.

 

First Steps Handguns: Revolvers, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 14, in room 101 of Building 10B. This class is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling of this type of pistol. Concealed Carry Handgun Training, 6-9 p.m., April 21 AND 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 23, in room 101 of Building 10B. This class covers the laws governing the use of deadly force, concealed carry statute and other relevant issues including the fundamentals of gun operation, personal protection with the use of a handgun, gun safety, ammunition and shooting techniques. Registration fee of $76.25 includes accident insurance fee.
