CHRISTMAS IN EDWARD: The citizens of the Beaufort County community of Edward celebrated Christmas in grand style Sunday afternoon with a traditional parade.

EDWARD — The small community of Edward observed the Christmas season in a big way Sunday afternoon with its annual holiday parade.

The event was the grand finale of parade season in Beaufort County, following similar celebrations held in Chocowinity, Washington, Belhaven, Bath and Aurora.

The Edward parade was founded in 2010 by the congregation of Edward Christian Church and was embraced by the community.

Leading this year’s procession were grand marshals Tony and Evelyn Langley. Joining them were local elected officials, school children and Santa Claus, along with entries sponsored by area churches, civic groups and fire/rescue organizations.
