Care-O-World Learning Enrichment Center is working toward establishing a connection with parents based on convenience and speed.

In late January, Care-O-World’s two branches in Washington and Chocowinity will debut electronic daily reporting software, which can be accessed online or through a downloaded app, according to Wendy Godley, director and infant and toddler family specialist at the Chocowinity location.

Godley said that once a parent downloads the software, he or she can access information about a child’s time at daycare each day, including mealtime, naptime and behavioral reports.

And the software works vice versa as well.

Parents can also send information to the daycare employees if they did not have time to talk while dropping off their child or forgot to mention something. For example, Godley said they can alert employees if a child didn’t sleep well the night before or hasn’t been feeling well recently.

“Just to kind of give us some sort of idea about what the day will be like,” she said.

The childcare center in Chocowinity ran three trials of different software programs in mid-December, according to Care-O-World’s Facebook page.

Care-O-World invited interested parents to download some of the software and test it out for themselves, trials that helped to narrow the field down to one program, Godley said.

“We have decided on one, and we’re going to start doing that for all of our infant and toddler programs,” she said.

The electronic reporting mirrors what Care-O-World employees are already doing in regard to connecting with the parents. Godley said the new software is just meant to replace the paper reports.

“We are inviting you to download the app and get the skinny on your child’s day,” a previous Care-O-World Facebook post stated. “Talk with your director or child’s teacher.”
