Harry N. Douglas, age 88, a resident of Aurora, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. Mr. Douglas was born December 3, 1927 in the Douglas Crossroads Community of Beaufort County to the late James Edgar and Olive Cutler Douglas. He was a 1945 graduate of Bath High school and NC State College. He also served his country in the United States Army in the medical corp. On June 23, 1962, he married the love of his life the former Winnie Gillikin who survives.

Mr. Douglas worked for Liggett-Meyers Tobacco Company and retired from Texas Gulf after 23 years as a maintenance planner, and he farmed for many years as well.

Mr. Douglas was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity, and was a lifelong Episcopalian. He was also a member of Aurora Masonic Lodge #300 and the Bayview Golf Club. His favorite pastime was playing golf.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter Judy Douglas of North Myrtle Beach, SC, one son Scott Douglas and wife Tammy of Ayden, NC, one sister Frances Douglas of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and formerly of Washington. Other survivors include two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents Mr. Douglas was predeceased by one sister Jean Douglas Fordham.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 am Monday, January 4, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity with Reverend Joseph Malcolm “Sonny” Browne III officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be held immediately following the service in the church prayer garden. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the services in the church parish hall. The family will also receive friends Sunday January 3, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service, and other times at the home.
