The class will be in room 822 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays beginning Jan. 26 and ending March 15, and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 28 and ending March 17.

Students in the class will use Microsoft Word to update or create a resume while gaining valuable hands-on computer training. Students will also learn to navigate the Internet by creating an NCWorks.gov account, as well as performing various job searches. Students will also spend time exploring career options.

Create a website for professional or personal use

In today’s marketplace, a website serves as a front door to a business — telling potential customers what that business is and what they do.

In this class, instructor Marilyn West will teach students the basics involved with Adobe Muse and how to use that program to create a successful website. Students will become comfortable with designing a master page, creating contents and other skills needed to launch a website.

The class will be 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays beginning Jan. 11 and ending Feb. 22 in room 826 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus. Instruction will also be delivered via the Internet.

Students will need to supply their own computers or laptops with Adobe Muse installed prior to the first night of class.

The total registration and technology fee is $75.

For more information about the class, contact Justin Rose, director of Occupational Extension, at 252-940-6262 or by email at justin.rose@beaufortccc.edu.

Students may register by calling 252-940-6375 or in person in Building 8, room 802, on the BCCC campus. BCCC accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Career prep workshop offered at BCCC

Sharpen your job-search skills and focus on a specific career path in this four-hour workshop offered by the Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College.

The workshop will be offered 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in room 823 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus four Thursdays this winter: Jan. 21, Feb. 11, Feb. 25 and March 10.

Participants should only attend one of these sessions.

Additional sessions will be added as demand increases.

During the workshop students choose a career path, update their resumes with a career focus in mind and prepare for job interviews. If time allows, participants will fine-tune their job-search skills and learn to “target job search” through various websites.

The registration and technology fee for the class is $75. Thinking of a career in health care?

If you’re thinking of a career in the health care industry, this class can help you find a job that’s right for you.

The class will be offered 6:15 to 9:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in room 823 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus beginning Jan. 11 and ending Feb. 8.

Students who complete the class will be eligible to enroll in BCCC’s Nurse Aide I or Registered Medical Assistant programs. The class will also include valuable information for those interested in BCCC’s Medical Office Specialist Program.

Instructor Danielle Street will lead students in the exploration of the health care industry while concentrating on their chosen field of study. Students will learn study and time management skills to help them prepare for classes in health care fields.

Students will also have the opportunity to earn their National Career Readiness Certification, required for students entering the Nurse Aide I or Registered Medical Assistant programs. A “silver” rank is required for prospective Nurse Aide I students.

Students will also take the Workplace Observation Assessment and the Performance Skills Assessment, which will allow students to focus on areas that may be barriers to employment, such as work attitudes, safety issues and overall job performance.

The registration and technology fee for the class is $75. The fees can be waived for those who are currently unemployed, have received notice of a pending layoff, working and eligible for the Federal Income Tax Credit or working and earning wages at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
