Your take: Washington resident celebrates 100th birthday

CARROLL JENKINS MILESTONE: Dorothy Jones Dudley celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday (Jan. 10). She has lived the majority of her life in Fairfield near Lake Mattamuskeet in Hyde County. She was the Queen of the Albemarle Sound Bridge for its dedication in 1938 and married Leland Dudley on her birthday Sunday after church in 1941. Known for her kindness and conscientiousness, she was a stalwart member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church and an active member of the community before moving to Washington and residing with her daughter Edith and son-in-law Carroll Jenkins five years ago.
