METROPOLITAN AME ZION CHURCH CIVIL RIGHTS CELEBRATION: Metropolitan AME Zion Church hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Jan. 17 at the church. The celebration was particularly historical because, for the very first time, Rev. David L. Moore invited a white minister to speak at the event. Rev. Dr. Jacob W. Kines Jr., minister of First Christian Church of Washington, spoke to attendees about King and his legacy. Other guests included fellow ministers, who shared a word of inspiration in commemoration of the event.
