Mrs. Laura Inez Tripp Hudson, age 97, a resident of 416 Bay Drive, Washington, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Friday, February 19, 2016.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Harvest Church, 2020 West 15th Street, Washington. The service will be officiated by Pastors Tad and Treva Tankard.
Mrs. Hudson was born in Carteret County on January 18, 1919, daughter of the late Alonzo Tripp and the late Della Smith Tripp. She married Fenner E. Hudson on October 4, 1934 who preceded her in death on February 1, 1971. Mrs. Hudson dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She also dedicated her life to God and worshipped at West Vanceboro Church of God and most recently at Harvest Church of Washington.
Mrs. Hudson is survived by a daughter: Emma H. Linton and husband Ray of Washington; a daughter-in-law: Linda O. Ormond of Vanceboro; two brothers: James Tripp and wife Molly of New Bern and Doug Tripp and wife Libby of Pinetown; four sisters: Dora “Dee” Manning and husband Odell of Swansboro, Pauline McCowan of Swansboro, Carol Jones of Kinston and Jean Teal and husband Keith of Bridgeton; two grandchildren: William Thomas “Tommy” Hudson Jr. of Robersonville and Catherine H. Asby and husband Kelvin of Greenville; three great-grandchildren: Whitney Foy Faulkner of Chocowinity, Hayley Foy Melanson and husband Kasey of Beaufort, SC, and Duston Asby of Greenville; and two great-great-grandchildren: Lilly Faulkner and Kayley Melanson. Mrs. Hudson was predeceased by two sons: William Thomas Hudson and Sam Windley Hudson; a son-in-law: Olin Sammons; three brothers: Ray, Joe and Raymond Tripp; and three sisters: Elmer Clark, Edith Manning and Helen Bright.
The family will receive friends after the service and at other times at the home.
