Mr. James Arthur “Jim” Chitmon Sr., age 73, a resident of 540 Weston Drive, Blounts Creek, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 25, 2016 at his home.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Kent Gurganus. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Anita Latham, 1459 Robersonville Road, Washington.

Mr. Chitmon was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on February 9, 1943 to the late Arthur Lee and Annie Summers Chitmon. On May 1, 1964 he married Barbara “Bobbi” Jean Morgan who survives. He was a graduate of Gosnell High School in Gosnell, Arkansas, served 13 years in the United States Navy and was a self-employed entrepreneur until his retirement in 2006. Jim loved his family, friends, telling stories, the History Channel and was an avid storm watcher from his creek-side home in Blounts Creek.

Survivors include his wife Bobbi Chitmon of the home, one son, James “Jimmy” Arthur Chitmon Jr. and special friend June of Greenville, one daughter, Anita Grace Chitmon Latham and husband Lee of Washington, grandchildren, Forrest Lee Latham and wife Morgan, Danielle Nichole Latham, Kaylee Grace Jackson, James Austin Chitmon, Joyce Alexandra Chitmon, two nephews, Wendell Chitmon and wife Kay, Michael Chitmon and wife Sandy and special pup, Marley. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
