JOHN SMALL SCHOOL
TAKING WING: Although it was after Valentine’s Day and no Cupid was in sight, the John Small Elementary School staff was invited to take a “time-out” on Feb. 16 to love their selves. SOAR, a wellness initiative sponsored by the John Small School counseling department, was created to encourage staff to take a moment to refuel, replenish, reenergize and let their inner eagle soar. JSS staff was treated to a wonderful lunch courtesy of community partners at McDonald’s, KFC, Food Lion and Wal-Mart. Beautiful floral decor was provided by The Flower Spot of Chocowinity.
Door prizes were distributed after school from Gurley’s Flower Shop, Linda’s Flowers and Gifts, Love Your Nails and Platinum Stylez Hair Salon. Educational literature was placed in staff boxes from Vidant Wellness Center along with a discount coupon from Jersey Mike’s Subs. It was a wonderful day! Spirits certainly soared to new heights because of the generosity of our community partners. Thank you!
