Don’t spread the germs

The weather outside is suddenly getting warmer and spring is right around the corner. As nice as it feels, though, some may not be enjoying it right now. With spring come plenty of allergies. The abrupt change in the weather can also cause colds and, even though the peak flu season is about over, the Centers for Disease Control says it can last all the way through to May.
So, with that in mind, it’s important to remind everyone of some quick ways to avoid spreading illness in schools and the workplace. Some of these techniques, like consistent hand washing, have been ingrained in a person since childhood. No matter how clean a classroom or workplace is, it’s up to each individual to make sure he or she is germ-free.
Beyond that, keeping workplace and classroom environments clean is a must. Antibacterial wipes are a quick, simple way to disinfect desks, keyboards, telephones and so on.
A final, big tip is to never feel the need to tough it out. Yes, one may fall behind by calling in sick to work or school. While that may be true, it certainly beats the alternatives. Illness just about negates any productivity, even if one does make it into the office or school. Not opting stay home to rest and recover will only prolong an illness. From there, a sick person is nothing but a liability, putting the health of coworkers and classmates at risk.
There’s no shame in staying home sick. It’s better to rest, recover and rejuvenate even if it seems one’s workload can’t bear the prescribed break. It’s better to be safely sick at home than sorry to spread the germs.
