Bath Elementary places 2nd in Regional Science Olympiad

BATH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD: The Bath Science Olympiad Team earned second place overall at the Regional Science Olympiad Competition Feb. 27 on East Carolina University. They now advance to the state competition on the campus of N.C. State on April 22-23. Eighteen students on the varsity team amazed us all with their sportsmanship and drive applying themselves to the 23 challenging events in the disciplines of science. The students placed in 17 of the 23 events. North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to attract and retain the pool of K-12 students entering science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees and careers in North Carolina. Every year, NCSO hosts tournaments on university, community college and public school campuses across the state. These tournaments are rigorous academic, interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging and inquiry-based events that are well balanced between the various disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology.
