BCCC announces scholarship recipients

The following students are among those who have received scholarships from the Beaufort County Community College Foundation for the spring 2016 semester.

Shannon M. Baker of Chocowinity, Erica Clark of Washington, Charitee Dunlow of Windsor, Kizzy Hodges of Washington, Tiffany Lynn Knickerbocker of Chocowinity, Alexandria Pinkham of Washington, Jarleisha Rodgers of Williamston, Kayla Brianna Townsend of Vanceboro, Wendy Sales of Williamston, Ashley Watson of Wilson and Felecia White of Washington have been awarded the Tayloe Drug Company Scholarship to attend BCCC this spring.

Baker, 26, is a student in BCCC’s associate degree in nursing program. A graduate of Southside High School, she is the daughter of Lee Taylor of Washington and Tina Taylor of Cove City. Baker plans to work as a pediatric or labor and delivery nurse while pursuing a bachelor’s degree after completing her studies at BCCC. She and her husband, Clarence, have four children. Clark, 29, is also a student in BCCC’s nursing program. A graduate of Shorewood High School, she also holds a degree in medical office specialist. After completing her studies at BCCC, she plans to work while continuing her education. She and her husband, Joshua, have one child. Dunlow, 21, is also a student in BCCC’s nursing program. A graduate of Bethel Assembly Christian Academy, she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree after graduating from BCCC. Hodges is a student in BCCC’s practical nursing program. The daughter of Cardelia Knight and Dewayne Bell, she is a graduate of Washington High School and works with the N.C. Department of Correction. Hodges plans to continue her nursing studies after graduating from BCCC. Knickerbocker, 25, is a student in BCCC’s medical office administration program. A graduate of Southside High School, she is the daughter of Michael Knickerbocker of Roper and Gibbie Keel of Aurora. She plans to work as a medical transcriptionist after graduating from BCCC.

Pinkham is a student in BCCC’s practical nursing program. A graduate of Washington High School, she is the daughter of Amy and Lonnie Woolard of Washington. Pinkham plans to work as a nurse after completing her studies at BCCC. She and her husband, James, have one child. Rodgers, 23, is a nursing student at BCCC. A graduate of Williamston High School, she holds an associate degree in applied science and plans to work as a traveling nurse after graduating from BCCC. Townsend, 21, is a student in the ADN RIBN program at BCCC. A graduate of West Craven High School, she is the daughter of Charlene and Tony Townsend of Vanceboro. After graduating from BCCC, she plans to complete the RIBN program and obtain her bachelor’s degree. She hopes to work as a nurse in an intensive care unit.

Sales, 34, is a student in the nursing program at BCCC. The daughter of Sophie and Dalton Rogerson of Bear Grass, she is a graduate of Bear Grass High School. Sales is employed as a care partner at Vidant Medical Center. She is married to Kip Sales and plans to work as a nurse while continuing her education after graduating from BCCC.

Watson, of Wilson, is a student in the nursing program at BCCC. A graduate of Washington High School, Watson attended Pitt Community College before enrolling at BCCC. She is the daughter of Joe Cox of Washington and Lisa Woolard of Bath and is married to Bradley Watson. She plans to work at Wilson Medical Center while pursuing studies as a nurse practitioner. White, 46, is a student in BCCC’s medical office administration program. A graduate of Washington High School, White holds a certificate as a medical assistant from the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. The daughter of Milton White of Washington and the late Betty White, she has two children. She plans to work in a medical office while continuing her education after graduating from BCCC.

The Tayloe Drug Company Health Occupations Scholarships are awarded from an annual contribution to the BCCC Foundation from Tayloe Drug Company — an independent pharmacy in Washington — to students enrolled in health-related fields.
