William Lovell Harper, 16, was arrested Tuesday and charged accessory after the fact. Another juvenile, arrested the same day, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to a press release from Lt. William Chrismon, spokesman for the Washington Police Department. Harper was arrested Tuesday and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond, pending appearances. The juvenile was transferred to a juvenile detention facility, the release stated.

The shooting incident happened at about 4 p.m. Sunday. Police were called to the scene at Pennsylvania Avenue after reports of shots fired came in. The argument, over another juvenile girl, took place in the street, spilling over into a neighboring yard. Shortly after, police were informed by Vidant Beaufort Hospital officials that two teens, ages 13 and 16, walked into the hospital emergency room with single gunshot wounds. The injuries were not life-threatening, according to a previous press release.

Washington Police and Fire Services Director Stacy Drakeford said in an earlier interview that at least six people were involved in the incident the day of the shooting, and the argument between the teens had been an ongoing one.

Chrismon said in the press release that the investigation continues and additional charges are expected.
