Missing Chocowinity man reunited with family

On April 14, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a missing Alzheimer’s patient from a residence on Cayton Road in Chocowinity, near the Beaufort County and Pitt County line. Family members reported that 80-year-old Thomas Eugene Williams wandered away from his home undetected.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded by issuing a Silver Alert at 1 a.m. Friday.
The sheriff’s office, with the help of Beaufort County Emergency Management, Chocowinity Fire and EMS, Deputies Daniel Hines and Sgt. David Grasha of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Coastal Carolina Search Team from Bell Arthur, began a search of the area around Williams’ home in both Beaufort and Pitt counties.
After following up on several tips of sightings of Williams in the area, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators, along with Sgt. David Grasha of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, located Williams at about 3:30 p.m. in an abandoned home on VOA Site B Road in Pitt County. Williams was reunited with his family and transported by EMS to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. His medical condition is unknown at the time of this release.
