Wanda McCants
Aug. 17, 1941 – April 25, 2016 

Mrs. Wanda Elaine Rose McCants, age 74, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Riverpoint Crest Nursing Center in New Bern, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2016 at First Church of Christ in Washington, officiated by D.J. Maxey and Homer Styons. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. McCants was born in Beaufort County on August 17, 1941, daughter of the late Marvin Rose and Dorothy Cooper Rose. She was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Pantego High School. She received her associate degree in business administration from Chowan College, her bachelor’s degree in business administration from East Carolina University and worked on her master’s degree at the University of Delaware. Mrs. McCants taught business curriculum in various high schools in Delaware. Over the years, she attended various churches including Seaford Christian Church in Seaford, DE, Elizabeth City Church of Christ, Son Rise Church of Christ in Kill Devil Hills, as well as Two Rivers Church of Christ in New Bern.

On March 20, 1963 she married William “Bill” McCants who survives.

In addition to her husband, Bill, of the home, she is survived by her son: David Floyd McCants and wife Bonnie of New Bern; her daughter: Jennifer Carol McCants Borgaila and husband David of Honey Creek, Iowa; her mother: Dorothy Rose of Pantego; her brother: Charles Rose and wife Patsy of Pantego; her sister: Marianna Phelps and husband Allen of Pantego; her grandchildren: Jordan, Sara, Rose, Grace and William Borgaila, Janie and Ella McCants; and two great-grandchildren: Kara and Seth.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday in the sanctuary at First Church of Christ, Washington.
