Mattie “Pat” Haddock-Lewis

Ms. Mattie “Pat” Haddock-Lewis, age 90, a resident of River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation and a former resident of West Barr Road, Chocowinity, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Pat was born in Craven County on November 4, 1925 to the late Martha Gaskins Dunn and Julius Dunn. She attended Craven County Schools and later married W.G. Haddock, who preceded her in death. Pat and her husband W.G. owned and operated W.G. Haddock’s Grocery Store on Hwy 17 South for over 40 years. She was also a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Haddock Smith of Chocowinity, two grandchildren, James Smith (Jennifer) of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Sherri Johnson (Jeff) of Chocowinity, and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Austin, Hunter, Madison, Gage, Zach and one great-grandchild, Gabby.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held today at 11:00 am at the Mack Smith Cemetery, Hwy 43, South Chicod, NC, officiated by Pastor Joe Ange.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her daughter Brenda Smith, 1265 West Barr Road, Chocowinity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center.
