Twenty-nine of the students who graduated from Beaufort County Community College’s nursing technology program on May 11 were also part of the Beaufort County Association of Nursing Students.

BCANS is a professional student nursing organization. For these students to receive recognition cords, they had to participate in 75 percent of campus and community events during the past two years. This organization awarded three $250 scholarships, each one to a freshmen, senior and LPN student. Eighteen of these students were able to attend the NCANS conference this year and meet the keynote speaker, Ms. Colorado. During the pinning ceremony, Angela Boyd reminded these students of Ms. Colorado’s words that they are more than “just a nurse” and encouraged them to continue in a professional organization during their nursing career.

Nursing instructor Angela Boyd said “[she] was honored to serve as the faculty advisor this year and proud of each and every one of these students.”
