Get it on the books

To the Editor,
There is a problem in Washington that has escalated and is now completely out of hand: vehicle noise pollution. Apparently, it has become a local fad for many drivers to remove the factory-installed mufflers from their vehicles and replace them with straight pipes, all with the intent of creating as much noise as possible. Why they do this, is beyond me, but it has become a constant nuisance and needs to be addressed by the city. There should be vehicle noise ordinances in place already, and traffic officers need to start enforcing them. If there are not such ordinances, city officials need to get them on the books. We need to at the least start a conversation about this problem.
