Noah Phipps was awarded the Basics of Criminal Justice certificate from Beaufort County Community College. Phipps completed the required college coursework while still enrolled in high school under dual enrollment. He will graduate from Northside High School on June 14. Phipps plans to complete his associate degree and then transfer to UNC-Wilmington. After graduation, Noah hopes to work with the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries Marine Patrol.

“Noah is a dedicated and determined student,” instructor Crystal Watts said. “He worked exceptionally hard to balance his high school classes and sports with a college schedule. We are all proud of his accomplishment.”

A student must complete 12 credit hours in criminal justice to achieve the certificate.

The career and college-promise program allows students to get a head start on their secondary education by taking college-level online classes or face-to-face classes at their high school.
