THIS MOBILE HOME AT 5012 OLD U.S. 64 east of Columbia was a total loss after a midday blaze on July 5, reported Sheriff Darryl Liverman. Fire departments from Tyrrell County, Creswell, Roper and Plymouth responded, as did Washington-Tyrrell EMS, Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tyrrell County Fire Marshal. No one was in the building when the fire was detected, and there were no injuries. Fire officials believe the fire started in the attic, possibly from an electrical cause. Temperature in the mid-90s made the fire difficult to fight. The 911 call was received at 12:57 p.m., and emergency crews cleared the scene at 4:49 p.m. (TCSO photo)
