Preston Eugene Hawkins Sr., of 169 Peed Road, Chocowinity, passed peacefully into eternity on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at Beebe Memorial Church, 427 N. Repress St., Washington. Interment will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Born on March 16, 1930, he was the oldest son of the late James Turner Hawkins and Elizabeth Tripp Hawkins. He was married to Mary Bullock Hawkins, who preceded him in death and he was a lifelong resident of Beaufort County.

He is survived by his daughters, Marian Hawkins Green, of Winterville, NC, Angela H. Thompson of the home, and Preston Hawkins Jr., of Greenville, NC, seven grandchildren, one brother, James Hawkins (Doris) of Upper Marlboro, MD, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A wake will be held on Saturday 6:00 – 7:00 pm at St. James CME, located at 486 Grey Rd, Chocowinity; at other times, family will receive friends at the home.
