From Swan Quarter Community Yard Sales

SWAN QUARTER — Organizers of the annual Swan Quarter Community Yard Sales are currently signing up participants from throughout Hyde County for this year’s event, which will be held on Sept. 24.

There will not be a rain date this year. Individual families, as well as nonprofit organizations with items to sell, are welcome. The fee is $5, which is used for the paid ads that are placed in newspapers in neighboring counties. A lot of other “free” advertising is also made available on several websites, Facebook, local radio and television stations and newspaper press releases.

This year, the yard sales are being combined with several other events to give the community and visitors an opportunity for a fun-filled family day. The Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department will host its regular monthly fundraiser lunch/dinner. The Down East Arts and Craft Show will be held at the Hyde County Government Center. Next door, the MATTIE Arts Center will be celebrating its fourth anniversary, and the Hyde County Farmers Market will also be open in Swan Quarter that day.

Yard sales take place along Main Street (N.C. Highway 94) and adjoining side streets, as well as at locations on U.S. Highway 264 and Quarter Road.
