Opal Jean Taylor Boyd

Opal Jean Taylor Boyd, 82, of Washington, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 in her home. Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on April 25, 1934, the daughter of Bertha Lee Porter and Leon Rowe Taylor. She worked as a nurse with Ridgewood Manor and with Beaufort County Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years William Marshall Boyd; her son Tim Boyd and his wife Laurie of Hamstead, NC; her sisters Audrey Bright of Chocowinity, Leatrice Bradshaw and her husband Hurbert of Grimesland, Mavis Chandler of Chocowinity, and Bertha Woolard and her husband William of Washington; her brother Curtis Taylor of Chocowinity; 3 grandchildren: Jenny Flynn, Erin Camp and Melanie Housley; her 3 great-grandchildren: Riley Flynn, Cayden Cushing and Marquis Housley and her little dog “Punkie Boyd.”

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her daughter Shari Lynette Boyd, her son Danny A. Boyd, her sisters Shirley Mae Satchell and Gilda Bland, and her brother Leland Earl Taylor.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Rebecca Aikens officiating.
