A fire destroyed a trailer home in Washington on Wednesday evening.

Clark’s Neck Fire Department responded to the fire at 250 Trails End North, off of Flanders Filters Road, not long after 6 p.m.

According to authorities, the family was not home at the time of the fire, but the blaze killed two dogs.

The home was a total loss, even though fire crews were able to put it out quickly. The interior was scorched, with insulation pouring out of one of the windows, and the roof showed clear signs of fire and smoke damage.

Stacy Drakeford, director of Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS, said an ambulance was requested from Washington EMS, but beyond that, Clark’s Neck handled the situation.

Neighbors said they did not know the names of the family members, but believed a mother and her children lived there. They said the woman’s sister lives nearby.

Multiple attempts to contact Chief Bryan Dixon of Clark’s Neck Fire for comment were unsuccessful.
