LPN and RN admissions requirements change

Starting fall 2016, students applying to the LPN or RN program at Beaufort County Community College are required to take the TEAS admissions test.
Students applying to the associate degree in nursing program or the practical nursing program will have to complete the Assessment Technologies Institute TEAS test with a minimum proficiency score of 58.7 percent. A student may complete and submit an application to the allied health coordinator, but evaluation and ranking will occur only after completion of the TEAS admission test shows a proficient level. TEAS scores must be submitted before the Jan. 31 application deadline.
Students will have three attempts within 12 calendar months, from Feb. 1 to Jan. 31 of the next year, to obtain a proficiency score of 58.7 percent on the TEAS test. Students are encouraged to prepare for the TEAS test prior to their testing date. Remediation services are offered through ATI should a student score less than the 58.7 percent required minimum proficiency. Students completing TEAS testing at other facilities may have an official ATI TEAS transcript sent to the allied health admissions coordinator, provided the scores occurred on a testing date within the 12 calendar months of the application deadline.
Testing will be offered on the campus of BCCC in the Building 12 computer lab. Multiple dates will be offered, including Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sept. 14 from 1-5 p.m. Please contact Kent Dickerson for any further questions at Kent.Dickerson@beaufortccc.edu.
