Multiple arrests made in Chocowinity, Belhaven

Breaking and entering, larceny suspect in custody
On Aug. 10, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a residence on Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity. The sheriff’s office began an investigation into the crime.
As a result of interviews conducted, information and evidence gathered, Investigator Jason Hill applied for and obtained warrants charging Anthony Wayne Woolard, 31, of Flat Swamp Road, with one count of breaking and entering, one count of larceny after breaking and entering and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
On Aug. 27, Woolard turned himself in and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $1,500 secured bond.
Arrests made in connection with Belhaven larceny
On May 26, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny from a residence on Loop Road in Belhaven. The sheriff’s office began an investigation into the crime.
After conducting interviews and collecting evidence, Investigator Jason Hill applied for and obtained warrants charging Stephen Cruze Foster, 28, of Vernon Drive, with one count of felony larceny and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
On Aug. 28, Foster, who was also wanted for failure to appear in court, was arrested by Beaufort County sheriff’s deputies. Foster was taken before a magistrate and was ordered held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $60,000 secured bond. Also arrested at the same time was Jamie Leigh Hazzard Reason, 38. Reason was charged with harboring a fugitive and ordered to be held on a $5,000 secured bond.
Chocowinity arrest made on Kentucky warrants
Acting on a tip from the Washington Police Department, on Aug. 30, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Carlton Tucker Freeman, 46, of Louisville, Kentucky. Deputies learned from the tipster that Freeman, who was living on N.C. Highway 33, east of Chocowinity, was a registered sex offender and a parole absconder wanted by the state of Kentucky.
Deputies confirmed Freeman was wanted, then responded to the address given by the tipster, where they located and identified Freeman. When deputies attempted to take Freeman into custody, he resisted arrest, but was subdued and arrested. Freeman, who was also charged with resisting, delaying and/or obstructing an officer, was ordered to be held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $505,000 secured bond. Freeman now faces extradition back to Kentucky.
