Tyrrell County Public Library
The Tyrrell County Public Library will be offering adult coloring workshops this fall. If there is enough interest, the classes will also run through the winter months. Scheduled classes will be on the third Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. each evening, with the first session on Sept. 15. Interested individuals should sign up in advance. These programs will be free to the public.
Adult coloring has been a popular outlet for many people. It can be a stress reliever, an opportunity to get back in touch with your younger self, a great distraction from everyday problems and can provide a sense of accomplishment once a picture is completed. It can be accomplished as a quiet time, or it can be done in a social setting with friends. In addition, it’s a great activity that that does not require a lot of supplies and is not expensive to do.
The workshops will provide some instruction on basic coloring skills. Each month, a new concept will be covered, and everyone will have the opportunity to create something different during each session. The first evening, everyone will be introduced to grayscale and will make a bookmark that will be laminated at the end of the session. Other concepts that will be discussed during these classes include shading and mixed media.
If anyone would like to join in on the coloring craze, please contact the library at 252-796-3771 to sign up. Gather up your favorite coloring supplies and join the library staff to learn how to enhance your coloring skills.
