DURWOOD COOPER AND ALMA DEAN COHOON ELOPED from Gum Neck and were married in Elizabeth City on Sept. 8, 1951. They celebrated their 65th anniversary at Columbia Crossing Restaurant. Their five children are Dawn Perry, Joy Cooper, Fay Davenport, Suzy Peartree and Durwood Cooper Jr. They have six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
