The Down East Seniors Club held its Sept. 14 meeting at the Blind Center of North Carolina in Washington. President Ed Hamrick led the meeting. Jim Hackney played for the singing of “God Bless America,” and Charlie Mike Smith gave the invocation. Mark Eakes and Charlie Mike Smith provided humor.
Charlie Mike Smith introduced Carol Nash with Beacon Street Development, the developer of Moss Landing. Beacon Street started out building a mix of condominiums and single-family homes, all within walking distance of downtown. Now the plan is for the remaining land to be used for single-family homes. There are lots available for 38 homes. Homes must be built using one of nine different house plans. All these plans utilize architecture that fits in with the historic district that the area is located in. The marina adjoining Moss Landing is owned by Terry Smithwick and is entirely independent of the housing development.
Joe Rose won the 50/50 drawing.
