The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for western Beaufort County until 9:15 p.m. Monday.
Radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rains. Up to 3 inches has already fallen, and another 1-3 inches will be possible in some spots.
Local law enforcement officials reported ongoing flooding due to recent heavy rain. Rainfall will continue to diminish over the warning area, but high water will persist.
A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents living along creeks and streams should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
If one encounters flooding on the roads, turn around instead of attempting to drive through it. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
