Sherlin Carawan

Sherlin Carawan, 77, of Swan Quarter, died Monday September 19, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Hyde County, November 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Ottis and Martha Cahoon Carawan. He was married to the former Joyce Wheeler who survives.

In 1960 he became owner and operator of Carawan Farms, making him a current farmer of a 100-year-old farm. He was a member of the Swan Quarter Christian Church and the Mattamuskeet Jaycees.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the family plot in Soule Cemetery; Steve Bryan and Mike Wheeler will officiate.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons Tony Carawan and wife Karen and George Bryan Carawan and wife Ginger, both of Swan Quarter; four grandchildren, Courtney Carawan, Chase Carawan, Dillon Carawan and Devin Carawan.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin Merlin Carawan and Ottis Carawan and a sister, Minerva Carawan Bong.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 97, Swan Quarter, NC 27885.

The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Services, Swan Quarter, on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at the home place.
