Thomas Wilson of Washington presented a donation for $120 for Bertie County flood victims to Capt. Bruce Rabon Jr. of the Salvation Army. Thomas is a junior at the Northeast Regional School of Biotechnology and Agriscience located in Jamesville. The money he donated was earned from his FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience project. He also donated many articles of new clothing. NERSBA students were encouraged to spend Volunteer Day on Sept. 30 providing service for a worthy cause in their local community. The Washington Salvation Army serves Beaufort, Bertie, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties. The Salvation Army is already providing meals and other much-needed relief for flood victims in these counties hit hard by recent storms and flooding. Bertie County suffered the greatest impact from flooding. “Please give what you can to assist our neighbors in their great time of need. The Salvation Army is already providing meals and other relief in these hard-hit areas and will apply your donation directly to where it is most needed. You will feel good about yourself knowing how much your donation is needed and appreciated,” Thomas said. The Washington Salvation Army is located at 112 E. Seventh St., and can be reached at 252-721-8150.
