Who remembers when soft drinks were just a nickel each?

Not many shoppers in downtown Washington do, most likely, but they are reminded of that bargain by the faded remains of an advertisement on the side of a building overlooking Third Street.

Other “blasts from the past” can be seen throughout the downtown area, many of them adorning brick storefronts and advertising long-closed establishments.
